Dr. Jean-Baptiste Joins the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute

The UF Health Proton Therapy Institute is pleased to announce Samuel Jean-Baptiste, MD, MS, is now a physician at the cancer treatment center. He specializes in treating brain, lung and prostate cancer. Dr. Jean-Baptiste is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Florida.

Dr. Jean-Baptiste has a depth of experience in patient treatment and clinical research for cancers of the lung, prostate, central nervous system, head and neck and gastrointestinal system. Additionally, he serves as Section Head of Biomedical Informatics, Department of Radiation Oncology.

“Joining the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute is an honor,” said Dr. Jean-Baptiste. “The UF Health Proton Therapy Institute is an exceptional place advancing cancer treatment with a patient-centered approach and the unique opportunity to become part of the team offers synergies I believe will enhance patient care,” he continued.

His studies focus on improving equity in global cancer care and health disparities in minority groups. His work on health disparities includes evaluating differences in patient portal and telemedicine usage among patients treated with radiotherapy. Dr. Jean-Baptiste also uses artificial intelligence in his research, evaluating large cancer datasets.

Dr. Jean-Baptiste completed his medical training at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and radiation oncology residency at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident. Dr. Jean-Baptiste speaks Haitian Creole and French.
