Proton Therapy News Brief Roundup
Art With a Heart Returns
Thanks to the generosity of the Mattlin family, the Arts in Medicine program is back at the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute. We are excited to be partnering with a local community organization, Art With a Heart in Healthcare, who will join us every Thursday to create memorable art with the patients and family members in our lobby. This program’s goal is to improve patient well-being throughout treatment.
Santa Joe and the Community Come Together to Bring Holiday Cheer to Pediatric Patients
Dec. 18 was a festive day at the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute. We welcomed Santa Joe McGee for his 9th visit. He distributed gifts to our pediatric patients, as well as brought holiday cheer to all. We are also appreciative of the volunteers, donors and community organizations that make the annual holiday party for pediatric patients possible. Thanks to the Climb for Cancer Foundation, The Believe Foundation, Rare Breed Motorcycle Club, Gamma Omicron Sigma Sorority, Duval Car Club Cancer Awareness Inc. and others.
On this day, we also welcomed local radio station 104.5 WOKV-FM for a four-hour, live morning show broadcast in our main lobby. The show anchors Rich Jones and Kristine Bellino interviewed our experts about proton therapy for cancer treatment, patients and their families. Hear the interviews with Dr. Kristin Heath, Dr. Nancy Mendenhall, Dr. Bill Mendenhall, Tamara Sorrye, Dr. Indelicato and more at this link.
