Executive Director’s Message – June 2026
While observing National Cancer Survivors Day on June 7, we are reminded that survivorship is not simply a milestone reached at the end of treatment — it is a lifelong journey marked by strength, resilience and hope. At the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute, it is our privilege to care for patients not only during treatment, but also as they move forward into life beyond cancer. Advances in early detection and precision treatments like proton therapy are helping more people live longer and with fewer side effects, making quality of life an essential part of the care we provide. That commitment continues through our survivorship program, where patients receive ongoing guidance, education, surveillance and personalized follow-up care designed to support their long-term health and well-being. This month, we honor every survivor and every family member, caregiver and clinician who walks alongside them. Their stories reflect the courage of our community and the purpose that drives our work every day: to provide the best chance for cure while helping each person live as fully as possible.
With gratitude,
Kristin Heath, DBA, MBA, MHA
