For many patients at the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute, ringing Aud’s Chime in the main lobby is a moment they will never forget. It marks the end of radiation therapy—and the start of a new chapter. While each journey to that moment is deeply personal, the chime has become a shared symbol of perseverance, hope, and healing.

As the Institute celebrates 20 years of treating patients with proton therapy, those powerful moments are reaching an even wider audience. Jacksonville radio station WOKV (104.5 FM) is partnering with the Institute to share patients’ chime stories on the air.

Each week, listeners hear directly from patient alumni as they reflect on their experiences and what it meant to ring the chime. The series began with a particularly meaningful voice—Audrey Anderson, the chime’s namesake, alongside her mother, Sue Anderson.

More than a dozen interviews have aired so far, with additional stories continuing throughout 2026. These conversations are also available online at wokv.com and floridaproton.org/floridaproton20, creating a growing collection of voices that celebrate resilience and survivorship.

Together, these stories carry the sound of Aud’s Chime beyond the Institute’s walls—reminding listeners that every ring represents a person’s journey, and every person’s journey is worth celebrating.
