Santa Joe Presents the Institute with a $55,000 Donation
Over the past 10 years, Santa Joe has regularly visited the children at the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute. He will arrive with toys and joy this year on Dec. 17. Following last year’s visit, Santa Joe raised $55,000 for the Institute. In addition to visiting healthcare facilities during the holidays, Joe McGee — better known as Santa Joe — also raises money during the year for these facilities treating children. In September, Joe presented the Institute with a donation to support the Child Life Program and pediatric team.
Dr. Julie Bradley Featured Speaker at Jaguar’s Crucial Catch Night
Jaguars players joined cancer survivors and their families for a night of games, laughter and connection at Main Event, according to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Hosted as part of the NFL’s Crucial Catch initiative, the evening honored the strength and resilience of those affected by cancer while bringing the community together for unforgettable fun.
The UF Health Proton Therapy Institute’s Julie A. Bradley, MD, MHCDS, was the featured speaker for the event. Dr. Bradley specializes in treating pediatric patients, as well as those with breast cancer. Several patients being treated at the Institute and their families were also in attendance. She was able to honor 4-year-old Lawson who had just rang the chime after completing proton therapy treatment at the Institute earlier that day! He showcased his strength surrounded by his twin brother and his parents.
The Institute Attends and Shares Research at ASTRO
Members of the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute, UF Radiation Oncology residents, physicians and alumni attended the American Society for Radiation Oncology’s (ASTRO) 67th Annual Meeting in San Francisco from September 27 to October 1. This year’s theme was “Rediscovering Radiation Medicine and Exploring New Indications.”
Daniel Indelicato, MD, made several presentations as did former Institute physician Dr. Mailhot and former Institute physicist Dr. Huh. Several other staff members were also in attendance.
