Jacksonville Teen Celebrates with Firehose Finish

The last treatment with proton therapy for 15-year-old Mishaun “Duke” Johnson included an extra special send-off. The fire fighters from Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department Station 4 were on the scene at the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute to celebrate Duke’s chime-ringing. You see, Duke loves trucks. What better way to celebrate than a personal tour of a fire engine complete with sitting in the cab, turning on the siren, honking the horn, and best of all, spraying the firehose? Thanks to patient alum and retired Neptune Beach Police Officer Gary K. Fiske, who made the arrangements along with Child Life Specialist Carey Lawing and Director of Social Services Tamara Sorrye.
